Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase speaks on captain role for second straight season
CINCINNATI —
The Cincinnati Bengals officially named their team captains earlier this week, and for the second straight season, star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase is one of them.
Chase, 26, has firmly established himself as one of the best wideouts in football, catching 125 passes for 1,412 yards last season, his fifth Pro Bowl campaign in five NFL seasons.
Chase is seen as a leader of the Cincinnati offense and in the locker room, where he said other players are looking up to him as a key voice for the organization.
“The thing overall with being a captain is obviously the whole team is looking at me before the captain role, but with the captain role, it’s just more everyone is really looking at me, leaning on me, asking me things” Chase said.
Chase also said the captain role comes with him being more vocal among his teammates, not just leading by example on the field.
