How does the 2025 Indianapolis Colts’ roster compare to the rest of the NFL?

With free agency and the NFL draft behind us, and rosters now largely set, Pro Football Focus put together their roster rankings ahead of the new season. The Indianapolis Colts came in at No. 20 overall.

Ultimately, like every team, quarterback play is going to determine the Colts’ ceiling in 2025, and that as we know, is where the greatest unknown lies at this time. So putting them much higher than 20th isn’t in the cards as of now.

However, having said that, there’s a lot to like about this Colts’ team. GM Chris Ballard reshaped the secondary by signing Cam Bynum and Charvarius Ward in free agency, and this is a defensive front that has been heavily invested in.

The change at defensive coordinator, and bringing in Lou Anarumo’s more aggressive and disguise-heavy scheme, can hopefully help elevate this unit as a whole.

On offense, the Colts were the only team in football last season to have three different receivers eclipse 800 yards–and all of those players are back–while the team added a do-it-all tight end in Tyler Warren.

And, of course, Indianapolis still has Jonathan Taylor, who finished fourth in rushing yards in 2024.

Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones will be competing for the starting job. As Shane Steichen has described, the two will alternate starting snaps throughout the summer, and ultimately, the most consistent of the two will win the job.

I’ll also add that with Tanor Bortolini and Matt Goncalves presumably starting along the offensive line, there isn’t the same certainty up front–at this time, anyway–as there was going into last season.
