So the new faces aren’t only found the quarterback. Five of the Steelers seven draft picks this year came on defense, led by first round pick out of Oregon defensive tackle Derek Harmon. The hope, the learn from the vets.
Cam Heyward, Steelers Defensive Tackle says, “ You don’t really think about passing the torch right now. I think it’s about how can we make this team the best it can be? You know, it’s not about holding secrets or anything. It’s about making sure we’re all growing, at a pace that, you know, by week one, we’re ready to, you know, kick this thing up. “
Patrick Queen, Steelers Linebacker says, “ We got young guys coming in with Jack. Office. We got some new corners and stuff. We got new safeties. Being now, you know, inside of my stuff. So that’s going to be fun. Offensively, we haven’t gotten to see too much like you guys on offense. Mostly handling my business and stuff, looking at the defensive stuff. But I think we got a lot of key pieces, honestly. “
The Steelers wrap up OTAs on Thursday, June 5th. Mandatory minicamp starts Tuesday, June 10th.
