STEELERS AT HIGH SCHOOL GAMES

Ahead of the season opener Sunday at Acrisure Stadium, several Pittsburgh Steelers were out in the community Friday night at high school football games in Western Pennsylvania.

Tight end Pat Freiermuth attended the Pine-Richland-Central Catholic showdown featuring two of the best high school football teams in the area.

Freiermuth wasn’t alone, though. He was joined by new Steelers safety Jaquan Brisker and cornerback Joey Porter Jr., making for a star-studded night on the sidelines at the game.

It was great to see the Steelers out in the community at high school football once again.

NEW FOOD AT ACRISURE STADIUM

Acrisure Stadium has undergone a few changes in recent years, and while fans will have some new seats in the upper decks this season, they’ll also have access to new food during games.

ESPN reported that the Steelers will have a new Black ‘N Gold Chicken and Waffle meal.

“The iconic colors of the Steelers are represented in a classic Southern meal that includes fried chicken, coleslaw, bacon jam, sweet potato fries and hot honey,” ESPN writes.

When you think Steelers, you think Southern fried food…right? Chicken and waffles is a popular combination, but it’s not something you tend to think of in Pittsburgh. Props to the Steelers for the creativity, though.

NASA HEADED TO STEELERS OPENER

The flyover for Week 1’s season opener between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Atlanta Falcons at Acrisure Stadium will look a bit different Sunday.

Thanks to a partnership between the NFL and NASA, the Inspiration Tour will “bring America’s strengths in space exploration and aeronautics innovation to the football field,” according to a press release from NASA.

According to NASA, the agency will conduct flyovers, astronaut appearances, and fan engagement at NFL games across the United States as part of its new Inspiration Tour. The Steelers are first on the tour.

NASA’s Inspiration Tour will also make stops in Baltimore, Philadelphia and New Jersey this season, before the final MAX POWER showcase at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida in early November.
