Parker Washington and the Jaguars engaged in extension talks this offseason. No deal is in place, however, and that is set to remain the case until next spring.
A contract signing will not be taking place prior to Week 1, as first reported by NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe. 2026 represents the final year of Washington’s rookie contract. The fourth-year receiver will bet on himself and the chances of another strong campaign boosting his market.
Per Wolfe, talks with Jacksonville focused on a deal similar to the one recently agreed to by Michael Wilson and the Cardinals. Ahead of his walk year, Wilson signed a three-year, $75MM pact. The top of the receiver market is of course much higher, but that was an instance of a 1,000-yard breakout leading to a significant raise.
Washington set new career highs across the board in 2025, posting 847 yards and five touchdowns on 58 catches. The former sixth-rounder added two punt return touchdowns on an average of 13.6 yards per return. A similar showing in 2026 would help Washington’s chances of landing a big-ticket deal in Jacksonville or elsewhere. NFL insider Jordan Schultz reports that in spite of talks failing to produce an agreement, the relationship between team and player in this case is still strong.
2026 will represent head coach Liam Coen’s second year at the helm of the Jags. The team’s offense will again include Travis Hunter at the receiver spot (on at least a part-time basis, that is). 2025 trade acquisition Jakobi Meyers quickly landed a $20MM-per-year extension upon arrival, and he is set to remain a key figure in the passing game alongside Brian Thomas Jr. Washington’s playing time has increased each season, though, and the 24-year-old should again be an offensive regular in 2026.
Recent reports indicated the Jaguars would be willing to continue negotiating during the season. If that holds true, an agreement tying Washington to the Jags could still be something to watch for provided he gets off to a productive start. Otherwise, his second NFL contract will not be finalized until after the campaign.
