Chase looking to bounce back after 12-yard day in Week 1 win over Bucs

The Cincinnati Bengals picked up their first win of the season last Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but surprisingly, star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase wasn’t a main reason why.

Chase has cemented his status as one of the best wide receivers in football and has routinely been the featured playmaker in Cincinnati’s offensive attack since he arrived in 2021.

On Sunday, he hauled in two catches for just 12 yards, tying the mark for his second-lowest receiving output of his career.

“They did a good job of taking some of the throws away, at the end of the day,” Chase said. “I still had other opportunities to make an impact on the game. Joe (Burrow) probably just didn’t like what he seen at the end of the day.”

Chase said his slow start to the season won’t dampen his motivation to perform in a big test for the Bengals against a talented Houston Texans defense in Week 2.

“I’m juiced every week, bro,” Chase said. “I just want to make a play at the end of the day, I’m not worried about what I did last week. At the end of the day, I still have to capitalize off what I did last year, and the year before that and before that, so I’m just holding myself accountable.”
