WASHINGTON (7News) — Professor at the University of Maryland Michael Friedman said that Mayor Bowser’s recently released report estimating the economic impact of the new Commanders stadium is “extraordinarily optimistic.”

“There are a number of unrealistic assumptions, so much so, that I believe this is a PR document rather than a serious attempt to research economic policy,” said Friedman.

Friedman’s research focuses on the relationship between public policy, urban design and professional sports in the postindustrial city, according to the University.
