It was back in February when the stunning story broke that the investment wing of the NFL giants, 49ers Enterprises, were locked in talks over a sensational takeover of Rangers.
Just over two months on, the deal to take control at Ibrox alongside American health tycoon Andrew Cavenagh appears closer than ever.
SunSport told just over a week ago how the US consortium had secured the required shares to get the deal done.
Leeds United’s promotion to the Premier League also saw a potential obstacle cleared, ending any fears of strict EFL multi-club ownership rules coming into play.

Now, with a dire season on the park coming to a close, Rangers fans are desperate for the big announcement that the deal’s gone through.
While that is still yet to come, a picture showing takeover big-wigs at Ibrox has circulated online and set plenty of tongues wagging.
SunSport can confirm key members of the US consortium were given a VIP tour of the historic stadium, including 49ers Enterprises chief Paraag Marathe and Cavenagh.
A post from the 49ers’ X account, too, sent takeover excitement into overdrive.
The official account of the NFL giants posted a picture to their 2.4million followers this afternoon.
It showed star tight end George Kittle sat beside a tablet device with the words ‘you ready?’ scribbled on it.

Many Rangers fans jumped on the post and reckoned it was a cryptic clue that the Ibrox takeover was almost there.
The Light Blues’ official club motto is ‘Aye Ready.’
Several Gers fans responded with Rangers-themed images, including title celebrations from 2021, Ally McCoist dancing and goal celebrations.
One Rangers fan replied: “Yes I’m ready come on let’s go!”
Another, quoting the club motto, said: “Aye Ready.”
A third posted: “Make Rangers Great Again.”
Another said: “We most certainly are.”
A fifth post read: “Announce Rangers.”
Another poster said: “Never been more ready in my life.”
Many 49ers fans seemed rather confused about what was going on with regards the post being flooded by comments from Scotland.
One said: “Who are Rangers and what do they have to do with the 49ers?”
Another fan said: “Rangers actually thinking this is about them!”
While the takeover at Ibrox IS close, it was NOT the announcement the 49ers were teasing.
