The Tennessee Titans will have some ground to make up on the defensive side of the ball after losing one of their cornerstone pieces this offseason.

With Dennard Wilson returning as the defensive coordinator, the unit will be relying heavily on the pass-rush group consisting of Jeffery Simmons, Arden Key, and Dre’Mont Jones.

When looking at the biggest loss of the offseason for each NFL team, Jared Dubin of CBS Sports landed on edge rusher Harold Landry for the Titans.

Landry never really lived up to the 12-sack season he had back in 2021 before he tore his ACL. He still racked up 19.5 takedowns over the last two years, but his rate of pressure never really recovered to where it was pre-injury. Still, losing a key piece up front on Dennard Wilson’s defense and replacing him with free agent Dre’Mont Jones and second-round pick Oluwafemi Oladejo is something that has to be navigated.

After the 2024 season in which Landry posted 9.0 sacks, 15 tackles for loss and 15 QB hits, the former second-round pick was granted permission to seek a trade. While that never came to fruition, the Titans released him on March 7 just before the start of free agency.

Landry wound up reuniting with former Titans head coach and current New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel on a three-year, $43.5 million deal less than a week after Tennessee released him.

Landry may not have been the superstar he was trending to be before his ACL injury, but his presence will be missed as a key contributor to the pass rush.
