Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes isn’t even 30 yet, and he already has an NFL resume most QBs would die for.

The Texas Tech alum has three Super Bowl championships and Super Bowl MVPs, two NFL MVPs, an Offensive Player of the Year award, two first-team All-Pro and one second-team All-Pro selections, and six Pro Bowls to his name.

Some believe Mahomes is on the fast track to a Hall of Fame career, and while many believe he’s one of the top three QBs in the NFL right now, he would presumably say he always has room to improve.

In fact, during a recent exclusive interview with People.com, Mahomes admitted that his wife, Brittany Mahomes, has had a profound impact on one of the most important parts of his game: his confidence.

“I admire my wife Brittany’s confidence,” Mahomes said. “Whether it’s in business, or supporting our family, she always leads with strength and purpose. That kind of confidence is powerful; it pushes me to be better every day.”

Brittany, who’s also 29 and was Mahomes’ high school sweetheart back at Whitehouse High School in Texas, has worked side-by-side with Mahomes and helped shape his personal fitness journey for years.

During the COVID pandemic in 2020, Brittany, who has a budding career of her own as a social media/health influencer—she’s a certified fitness trainer and runs her own fitness brand, Brittany Lynne Fitness—regularly designed workouts for Mahomes as she filled in for his personal trainer Bobby Stroupe.

The couple are also founding co-owners of the National Women’s Soccer League’s Kansas City Current, so Mahomes has had a front-row seat to watching his wife’s ambition and confidence play out.

That kind of supportive environment, Mahomes says, is what pushes him to be the best version of himself, which as the rest of the AFC West will confirm, is pretty dangerous.

“Off the field, I’m probably most confident when I’m with my family and close friends,” Mahomes added. “Being around the people who’ve supported me from the beginning and know me so well—that’s when I’m at my best.”

“Sometimes in those workouts, when you might be a little tired, you have that extra motivation to finish even stronger.”

Heading into 2025, Mahomes has quite a chip on his shoulder.

He’s coming off arguably the worst season of his eight-year career. His 3,928 yards passing, 26 touchdowns, and 6.8 yards per pass attempt were his lowest totals since he became a starter in 2018, and his 36 sacks taken were a career-high.

Mahomes also had one of the worst playoff performances on his career in Kansas City’s 40-22 defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX. Though he threw for 257 yards and three touchdowns, he also had two interceptions and threw for just 24 yards in the first half with a pick-6.
