Jacksonville Jaguars’ assistant general manager and former interim GM Ethan Waugh will reportedly not be retained under first-year general manager James Gladstone, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL media.

Waugh had been with the Jaguars since the 2022 season, when he was hired to be the team’s assistant GM under former general manager Trent Baalke.

Once the Jaguars parted ways with Baalke in January of this year, Waugh stepped in as the interim general manager as Jacksonville looked to fill that role.

Waugh would even interview for the GM job and was among the five finalists before the team chose Gladstone to lead the way moving forward.

According to NFL.com, Waugh was still employed by the Jaguars through the NFL draft, but now Jacksonville has officially moved on.

It certainly isn’t a surprise that this move was made. The outlier would have been hanging on to someone from the previous executive team who held such a prominent role.
