After spending five years at Alabama as a linebacker with edge traits, Que Robinson entered the 2025 NFL draft and was picked by the Denver Broncos in the fourth round.

He played primarily on special teams for three seasons before emerging as a starter in 2024. Robinson’s season was cut short after nine games when he suffered an elbow injury last November. He has since recovered fully.

“I had surgery immediately after the game that I injured it in,” Robinson told media members in a conference call after being picked by Denver. “I’m 100 percent healthy right now.”

It remains to be seen how the Broncos plan to employ Robinson on defense. He figures to make an instant impact on special teams, but whether he plays as an inside linebacker or edge rusher is unclear. He could end up having a hybrid role.

“Just coming in, just contributing to the team as much as I can, whether that’s on defense or special teams,” Robinson said of his role. “I’m just excited to fill whatever role they want me to be in.”

Robinson recorded 23 tackles (seven behind the line), 4.0 sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery before his injury last season. He’s willing to take on any task with his new team.

“Just being able to be around some people that have done it at an extremely high level,” Robinson said when asked about joining Denver’s deep pass rush rotation. “I’m ready to show my consistency, being able to show how I can be used on first and foremost first and second downs, and not just third downs as well. Then I can play special teams as well. That’s what I’m most excited about — just trying to help this team win.”

Early in his career, Robinson’s biggest contributions will undoubtedly come on special teams.

“I’ve played all four, core-four special teams [positions],” he said. “I’ve been on kickoffs, kick returns, punts, punt returns. Also I’ve been on field goal block [and] field goal. I’ve been on everything.”

The 23-year-old hybrid defender will give a boost to the units of special teams coach Darren Rizzi and defensive coordinator Vance Joseph. Broncos fans will see the linebacker in action for the first time when Denver begins training camp later this summer.
