The Carolina Panthers’ 2025 regular-season opener is set to be a family affair.
On Sunday, Sept. 7, the Panthers will visit EverBank Stadium to lock up against the Jacksonville Jaguars. That’ll be where rookie running back Trevor Etienne gets to reunite with his brother, Jaguars running back Travis Etienne.

Etienne—Trevor, that is—was asked about the game following the final practice of mandatory minicamp this afternoon.
“It doesn’t get any better than that, for real,” Etienne told reporters on Thursday. “It’s like, you dream of being in the NFL. Then your brother’s in the NFL. You get a chance to compete at this level, and then y’all play each other Week 1. So, I mean, it couldn’t be written up any better than that.”
Carolina selected Etienne in the fourth round of this year’s draft. The Jennings, La. native played three years of college ball, splitting his time between the University of Florida (2022 to 2023) and the University of Georgia (2024).
As for the beginning of his pro career, Etienne shared his vision for that Week 1 matchup.

“Panthers coming out on top,” he later stated. “That’s how I’m looking at it. That’s what I’m going into the game, where my mindset is. I’m rooting for brother, hope he has the best game of his career. But they can’t win.”
