Jack Brewer called out Tim Walz for his job governing Minnesota
Former Minnesota Vikings safety Jack Brewer directed verbal shots at city Governor Tim Walz after two state lawmakers were shot in their homes in what Walz called a “politically motivated assassination.”
The ex-NFL player and “lifelong Democrat” turned Republican spent time with both the Vikings and Golden Gophers and voiced his concern that the state he once called home is totally different from his recollection. “We need to start calling this what it is,” Brewer said. “These people have lost their minds. I am heartbroken to see one of the most amazing states in America completely turned around under Gov. Tim Walz. Minnesota is confused.”
Brewer was responding to the attack on Saturday when State Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband were shot and killed in Brooklyn Park. Hortman served as a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives and took office on Jan. 4, and previously served as the 61st Speaker of the Minnesota House of Representatives.

Not too long after, state Sen. John Hoffman and his wife were shot multiple times in their home, and officials confirmed both survived the shooting and were reported to be in stable condition. Hoffman became a member of the Minnesota Senate from the 34th district in 2013 and has been reelected three times during his career.
Law enforcement, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, and the FBI all identified the shooter as 57-year-old Vance Boelter, who reportedly camouflaged himself as a police officer and drove a police-like vehicle with flashing lights to impersonate an officer and approach citizens’ homes. The Tribune later revealed Boelter to be a former appointee of Walz’s administration who served a four-year term on the Governor’s Workforce Development Board.
Boelter reportedly also worked as the Director of Security Patrol for a Minnesota security company. Brewer said that Walz’s administration is failing to protect its own citizens.
Jack Brewer played two NFL seasons for the Vikings
“Minnesota has become the capital of chaos in America,” Brewer said. “That’s not right. It’s not a reflection of the true people of Minnesota. There are a lot of good people there. But the liberal hub around Minneapolis and St. Paul has taken over, and it’s dangerous. Tim Walz is the leader of that. His attorney general, Keith Ellison, is right there with him.”
Brewer played for the Vikings in 2002 and 2003, but he missed the postseason both years. He had a four-year NFL career with three different franchises, including the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles. His best season was in his rookie year, during which he recorded two interceptions. The Vikings finished that season with a 6-10 record under then-head coach Mike Tice.
