EUGENE, Ore. — University of Alabama graduate student Megan Albamonti, a 2019 Westerly High graduate, earned second-team All-America honors in the javelin at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on June 12.
Albamonti finished 16th overall with her throw of 167-feet.
Earlier this season at the LSU invitational on May 3, Albamonti won the javelin with a personal best throw (176-6) that ranked third all-time in program history and 15th in the country this year.
It marked the second time that Albamonti received second-team All-America status. She finished ninth overall (178-0) in 2023 while competing at the University of Delaware, where she won three consecutive Colonial Athletic Association titles in the javelin (2021-23).
Albamonti, a former four-sport All-State performer at Westerly, won the RIIL state championship in the javelin during her senior season at Westerly with a program record throw of 139-10 that is still the current mark. The Bulldogs won three consecutive RIIL state titles from 2017-2019.
