After going undrafted in 2023, he spent time on the Las Vegas Raiders and Green Bay Packers‘ practice squads that year, before landing on the Colts‘ practice squad in December.
Ajiake would spend the 2024 offseason and training camp with the Colts, and most of the season on the practice squad. He was briefly released for two days in October before being brought back as GM Chris Ballard maneuvered the roster.
Looking ahead to the 2025 season
The fact that the Colts have a new defensive coordinator, and so much inexperience on this roster behind Zaire Franklin, could create more opportunity than what there was in 2024 for Ajiake to make a roster push.
To a degree, with a new scheme being implemented and really no established players outside of Franklin, it’s a clean slate this season for just about everyone.
Now, with that said, it’s still going to be an uphill battle for Ajiake when it comes to making the 53-man roster. While there is little defensive experience at this position group, Segun Olubi, Cameron McGrone, and Joe Bachie all have played quite a bit on special teams.
Even Liam Anderson, a back-end of the roster player like Ajiake, was called upon last season when the Colts were dealing with injuries at linebacker over Ajiake.
So, in short, there’s opportunity, but there are still a lot of players for Ajiake to hurdle on the depth chart.
