Buccaneers’ Run Game Named Among NFL’s Best originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had one of the best rushing attacks in football last season, with Liam Coen’s unit averaging 146.5 yards per game.

With Bucky Irving, Rachaad White and Sean Tucker now, Josh Grizzard’s three-headed monster, coupled with the entire starting offensive line returning, it is no wonder many are expecting the Buccaneers to be one of the best in the business when it comes to running the football.

For Pro Football Focus, when ranking all running back rooms ahead of the 2025 season, Tampa Bay unsurprisingly ranks high at No. 6.

“Bucky Irving’s outstanding rookie season boosts the Buccaneers well into the top 10 on this list,” Pro Football Focus writes. “He finished fourth among all running backs with a 90.8 PFF overall grade and was the only player in the NFL to record 90.0-plus PFF grades as a rusher and receiver.

“Rachaad White’s 73.8 PFF overall grade is evidence that he is more than capable of playing a complementary role. Even third-stringer Sean Tucker got in on the action last season, earning an 80.0 mark and racking up 237 total yards, including kick returns, against New Orleans in Week 6.”

For some, that might be a little too low. Considering the Seattle Seahawks ranked fifth and last year averaged just 95.7 yards per game, that is odd.

Still, the Buccaneers are going to have one of the better units in football. Irving is entering Year 2 and should improve, so too Tucker, who was used sparingly last year.

And as for White, he will be entering a contract year, so he will have ample motivation to make the most of his opportunities in 2025.

Many have Tampa Bay as an NFC dark horse, and a big reason for that is how well-rounded the offense is. Baker Mayfield has a wealth of passing options, and we then add the run game; it’s truly a case of pick your poison.

PFF has the run gam ranked as the sixth-best in football, but we imagine that, come season’s end, the Buccaneers’ rushing attack will be a little higher on this list.
