HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – The Huntsville City Schools Board of Education has approved a new head football coach at Lee High School.
Antonio Ford will now take the helm for the Generals, HCS announced Tuesday.
Ford comes to Lee from Tuscaloosa County High School, where he served as defensive coordinator for the Wildcats for the past three seasons. He has more than 20 years of coaching under his belt, including a head coaching job at Sipsey Valley.
Ford also played collegiate football at Troy University under head coaches Larry Blakeney and Tracy Rocker. He said his goal for the season is to improve as a team.

“I’m just excited for the opportunity, not just to coach football but an opportunity to lead men,” Ford said. “It’s such a deeper calling than just the X’s and O’s of the game, but we get a chance to impact lives, in a way that very few get the chance to do.”
Ford takes the reins after Irving McGuire, who had served as head football coach since 2021, stepped down earlier in the month to accept a job as assistant principal at Sonnie Hereford Elementary School.
