Does it seem like there are fewer chance for fans to go to Arizona Cardinals training camp? That’s because there are.

The Arizona Cardinals have announced their training camp schedule and the open practices that fans can attend. Camp has long been a way for fans to see practices, get excited about the season and players, and it introduces young people to the team in a way that games can’t, mainly because it is free to attend.

However, over the years, the Cardinals have been making it less and less accessible.

It started when the team moved camp from Flagstaff at NAU to State Farm Stadium. It was an understandable change and a trend around the league.

But as the years have passed, there have been fewer practices open to fans and fewer weekend days.

For the second straight year under head coach Jonathan Gannon, there are only nine open practices and only one that falls on a weekend. A 10th practice, on a Sunday, is available only to season ticket holders.

Let’s have a look at how things have changed.

Arizona Cardinals training camp accessibility since 2013

2013 (beginning of Bruce Arians’ tenure as HC): The Cardinals had 17 open practices between July 26 and Aug. 22. There were three weekend practices.

2014: The Cardinals had 18 open practices between July 26 and Aug. 22. There were three weekend practices.

2015: They had 19 open practices between Aug. 1 and Aug. 28 with three weekend practices.

2016: They had 16 open practices, three on the weekend, between July 29 and Aug. 26.

2017: They had 18 open practices, three on the weekend, between July 22 and Aug. 23.

2018 (Steve Wilks begins as head coach): There were nine open practices, but three on weekend days, between July 28 and Aug. 13.

2019 (Kliff Kingsbury begins as head coach): They had 14 open practices, six on weekend days, from July 25 to Aug. 17.

2020 (pandemic): No open practices

2021: They had 12 open practices between July 30 and Aug. 15. Three were on the weekend.

2022: They had 10 open practices between July 30 and Aug. 10. Two were on Saturdays.

2023 (Jonathan Gannon begins as head coach): They had 11 open practices, two on Saturdays, between July 27 and Aug. 9.

2024: They had nine open practices, including only one on a weekend, from July 25 to Aug. 7. They offered a Sunday practice only for season ticket holders.

2025: They have nine open practices, only one on a weekend, with an exclusive practice on a Sunday for season ticket holders.

The Cardinals still do better than many teams. They have their camp locally and do offer open practices. They are free. So, this isn’t all bad. It is just that it is moving in a less positive direction.
