Jacksonville Jaguars’ running back Bhayshul Tuten has officially signed his rookie contract and had a brief message for fans after doing so.

“Hey it’s Bhayshul here. I just signed my contract. Just ready to get to work, and I’m excited to see where the future goes. DUUUVAL!”

Tuten was the 104th overall pick in this year’s draft by the Jaguars and the second selection made in the fourth round.

Tuten brings added big-play ability to the Jaguars’ backfield, running a 4.32-second 40 at the NFL combine. During his final season at Virginia Tech, he averaged an impressive 6.3 yards per rush, and among all running backs, ranked 13th in average yards after contact and 16th in missed tackles forced, per PFF.

One of the more intriguing positional battles that’ll take place this summer will come at the running back position with Travis Etienne, Tank Bigsby, Tuten, and LeQuint Allen all fighting for playing time.

Head coach Liam Coen likes what he has seen from Tuten so far, but as is the case for most incoming rookies, there is a learning curve that still has to be navigated when making the jump to the NFL level.

“I think he’s done a solid job,” Liam Coen said during minicamp. “He needs a lot more work, which all those guys do. A lot of the running backs, man, it’s a huge jump from protection systems in college to the pros and that’s usually where you see the tempo slowing down for them. Like playing slower, thinking more, when pass pro starts to kind of bog the mind. Then let’s call it, you got five different tracks of footwork for a running back to learn.”

Coen then added: “We’re trying to teach the why and sometimes that can slow a back down in this phase, especially when it’s tag, and people are in awkward positions when you’re trying to stick your foot in the ground to run vertical to run through them, you can’t. It’s awkward.”
