HOUSTON — Houston, we had a problem.
Houston-born superstar Beyoncé brought her show to a halt after her flying-car prop seemingly malfunctioned while she was midair, suspended over fans.
She could be heard saying “Stop, stop, stop” in several videos of the incident that surfaced online.
Beyoncé was closing out her Cowboy Carter show with the soul-bearing song, “16 Carriages,” Saturday night during the first show in her hometown on the tour.
During the song, Beyoncé sits in the car prop, suspended in the air, as it floats her around the venue. The red car prop could be seen tilted sideways as it carried the singer around the NRG Stadium, full of screaming fans.
Following Beyoncé’s calls for the show to pause, she was swiftly lowered to the ground, where the crew rushed to her to help her out of the prop. The singer remained calm during the ordeal, even continuing to sing before ultimately pausing the show.
“If ever I fall, I know y’all will catch me,” Beyoncé’ said moments later when she reappeared on stage.
The Cowboy Carter Tour’s second night in Houston ended with neither a performance of “16 Carriages” nor the floating car prop.
In a lighthearted Instagram post, Beyoncé posted photos of the scary incident to the well-known Houston classic, “Sittin Sidewayz,” by Paul Wall, Big Pokey and Slim Thug.
