The Bucs have become a factory for NFL head coaches in recent years by having their last two offensive coordinators be hired by teams to be their new franchise leaders. Both Dave Canales and Liam Coen had gone from leading the Bucs offense to now leading the Carolina Panthers and Jacksonville Jaguars, respectively.

That leads us to new Bucs playcaller Josh Grizzard, who gets promoted from being the team’s passing coordinator in 2024. Even though he has yet to call a play in an NFL game, some people are already discussing his potential to be an NFL head coach.

Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton wrote up current NFL coordinators who could be future head coach candidates and Grizzard made the cut. He wrote that while Grizzard has risen up the coaching ranks quickly, if he helps Mayfield cut down on his turnovers while maintaining his impressive passing numbers, teams will be interested.

And why shouldn’t they be?

Chances are the offense will produce with all the major components returning. Jason Licht even went as far as to add a first-round wide receiver pick to the mix in Emeka Egbuka. So if Mayfield can stay healthy, as well as everyone else on the offense, this unit will produce, and the team could be staring down a third straight offseason looking for a new playcaller.
