Let’s take a closer look at this Indianapolis Colts team as we go player-by-player through the roster. Up next is C Wesley French.
With offseason programs now behind us, we will be getting a jump start on our training camp preview by going player-by-player through the Indianapolis Colts’ 91-man roster.
Going alphabetically, up next is center Wesley French.
Wesley French’s profileHeight: 6-4Weight: 307Age: 24NFL experience: 3 seasonsCollege: Western MichiganNo. 622024 Snap count totals
French did not play any regular-season snaps in 2024. He has played 270 career snaps, all of which came in 2023, mostly at center, but he played some right guard as well.
2024 Season Review
French suffered an ankle injury during training camp last summer and was placed on injured reserve in August, which effectively ended his season.
Looking ahead to the 2025 season
Tanor Bortolini is the presumed starter at center this season, but he is competing with Danny Pinter for that job. At best, this leaves French as the third option at center, which perhaps makes the practice squad his most likely landing spot, since we don’t often see teams roster three centers.
Now, where French could potentially make a roster push is if he continues to play guard, along with center, this summer. With the Colts likely starting two inexperienced players at center and right guard in Bortolini and Matt Goncalves, I could see a scenario where they keep an additional interior lineman on the roster to bolster the depth and provide experience behind the two second-year players.
If French can hold his own at all three interior positions, that will certainly increase his chances of making the team, with him able to fill in at both guard spots and center if the Colts are in a pinch.
