Many players on the current Philadelphia Eagles roster have been extended to some of the largest deals for their respective positions.

Landon Dickerson, Jordan Mailata, A.J. Brown, Jalen Hurts, and Saquon Barkley are just a few of the players who have received long-term deals in the last few years. Because of that, Philadelphia has been forced to rely on defensive players who were recently drafted.

One of those draft picks has not just been one of the best players on the team’s defense, but one of the best in the league.

Jalen Carter has only been in the NFL for two seasons, but he has recorded over 10 sacks and was an All-Pro last year. His work made him one of the best in the league and a key part of Philadelphia’s Super Bowl season.

As he prepares for his third season, Carter can add another name to his resume.

Underpaid.

Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay called Carter the league’s most underpaid defensive tackle in 2025.

“The Philadelphia Eagles leveraged one of the most ferocious defensive fronts the league has seen into a Super Bowl victory last season,” Kay said. “At the center of it all was Jalen Carter, the team’s standout defensive tackle who changes the game with his presence.

“The 24-year-old emerged as a full-time starter during his stellar sophomore campaign. While he only amassed 4.5 sacks (down from six as a rookie), he earned Pro Bowl and second-team All-Pro honors for his consistency throughout the 831 offensive snaps he saw the field for across 16 regular-season contests.”

Carter won’t stay as an underpaid player for long. After the completion of the 2025 season, he will be eligible for a contract extension. When that happens, Carter will quickly become one of the highest-paid non-quarterbacks in the game.

For now, though, his contract is something the Eagles can use to their advantage for the following year.
