New Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Jonnu Smith has been assigned a jersey number one day after Jalen Ramsey was given his.

Smith was acquired in the blockbuster trade with the Miami Dolphins that also landed Ramsey but jettisoned safety Minkah Fitzpatrick.

Ramsey’s jersey number was revealed on Thursday, with the new Steelers cornerback taking No. 5, which was previously owned by punter Cameron Johnston.

Smith’s reveal came on Friday morning via the Steelers’ X account, and the new tight end in Pittsburgh will wear No. 81, which former Steelers tight end MyCole Pruitt sported last year. Pruitt and Smith were teammates with the Falcons and Titans.

Smith wore No. 9 with the Dolphins last season but rocked No. 81 during his days with the Atlanta Falcons, Tennessee Titans and New England Patriots.

Ramsey wore No. 20 earlier in his career before switching to No. 5 in 2021 while with the Los Angeles Rams.

Only two defensive players on the Steelers have a single-digit number, with the other being linebacker Patrick Queen, who is No. 6.
