Let’s take a closer look at this Indianapolis Colts team as we go player-by-player through the roster. Up next is QB Daniel Jones.
With offseason programs now behind us, we will be getting a jump start on our training camp preview by going player-by-player through the Indianapolis Colts’ 91-man roster.
Going alphabetically up next is quarterback Daniel Jones.

After making 10 starts last season for the Giants, Jones was benched, and not long after that, he was released. Jones then caught on with the Minnesota Vikings, where he spent most of the remainder of last season on their practice squad.
Jones would complete 63.3% of his passes, but that was his lowest mark since 2020, his second season in the NFL. He also threw seven interceptions, which marked 13 in total between the 2023 and 2024 seasons, where he appeared in just 16 total games.
For most of his career, Jones has been a relatively efficient passer, with a completion rate of over 67% between the 2022 and 2023 seasons. However, he and the Giants’ offense struggled to generate explosive plays in the passing game.
Looking ahead to the 2025 season
Jones will be competing with Anthony Richardson for the Colts‘ starting quarterback job this summer, although he will likely enter training camp with the upper hand after taking the bulk of the first-team reps during OTAs and minicamp while Richardson was sidelined.
“Very pleased with what we got right now,” Shane Steichen said of Jones’ play during offseason programs, via Locked on Colts. “He’s been doing a hell of a job. Really smart football player. Learned the offense very quickly. Making really good decisions out there through OTAs. Obviously want to carry that over to training camp, but he’s done a really good job. Great command of the huddle, ultimate pro.”
As Steichen said earlier this offseason, ultimately, he is looking for consistency at the quarterback position. The player who can best provide that will be the Week 1 starter.
