The Dallas Cowboys upgraded at wide receiver this offseason, as the team acquired George Pickens from the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Pickens, who is entering the final year of his deal in 2025, will look to be a difference-maker for Dallas and form an exhilarating duo with CeeDee Lamb. The 24-year-old hauled in 59 receptions for 900 yards and three touchdowns in 2024 and posted a 1,000-yard campaign in 2023.

With Pickens set to enter free agency in the spring, Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport predicts the Georgia product’s second contract will be worth $76.5 million over three seasons with $50.5 million guaranteed.
“The bigger question is whether the Cowboys will be able to afford to be the team that doles it out,” Davenport wrote.
Dallas is slated to have just $5.3 million in cap space next offseason, per Over the Cap, so the franchise may not have enough money to sign Pickens to an extension.
With the Cowboys paying quarterback Dak Prescott and Lamb top-of-the-market money, it will be tough for them to retain another star player on offense.

Additionally, Dallas still needs to get an extension done with superstar edge rusher Micah Parsons, who could receive a historic contract in the foreseeable future.
If Pickens takes a step forward in 2025 and performs well, the former Day 2 pick will earn a nice payday. It may not come from the Cowboys, though, as Jerry Jones doesn’t have the money to keep everyone.
