Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward didn’t have an easy journey to the NFL. A zero-star recruit out of high school who started his collegiate career at Incarnate Word before transferring to Washington State, and transferring again to the University of Miami. At each stop, Ward improved the program he was part of and proved that he was the best quarterback in the 2025 NFL draft class.
Another former Miami Hurricane, defensive back Antrel Rolle, recently sat down with Gambling Industry News’s Kyle Odegard. Rolle was asked if he thinks Ward can be an impact guy as a rookie.

“I think Cam will be a great player. There’s only one knock I had on Cam watching him this year. The knock wasn’t at the collegiate level, but looking toward the future and his NFL career. He will have to get rid of that ball a lot faster. Everything else he did was phenomenal. It wasn’t a negative in college because he had the time. And the way the corners play in college is different. He will have to get rid of the ball faster in the NFL because the film study is so sharp. If you hold that ball for an extra millisecond, it will determine a pass breakup, an interception, or a completion.”
This is something that the Titans have been working on with Ward during minicamps and OTAs, and it’s something they’ll continue to work on in training camp. He’s already improved his release time, so now it’s a matter of increasing that speed and also being comfortable with the process. Can he get there, though?
“Absolutely. It will be an adjustment for him – but only if he doesn’t already have it,” Rolle said. “He did it in college because he could do it. I think that guy is a phenomenal talent, and I think he’s going to take the NFL world by storm. I think he’s going to light it up. Will it be Year 1? That’s hard. But I think he is going to have a very successful NFL career. He’s such a humble and down-to-earth kid, and football is what he wants to do. He wants to be the best. When you’re humble and a good person, it tends to work out for you.”
Ward has been humble his entire life. He’s worked harder than most to get where he is, and he fully understands where he came from. He also genuinely cares about people. When you possess good character, a solid foundation, and the ability to keep things in perspective, that’s when you become truly successful as a person. Ward is well on his way to greatness, and we will be along for the ride.
