The Carolina Panthers might be hoping to add more competition to their secondary.
As first reported by UFL analyst Michael Del Negro, the Panthers are scheduled to work out St. Louis Battlehawks cornerback Nick Whiteside. A source has confirmed the upcoming session with Panthers Wire.

An Auburn Hills, Mich. native, Whiteside attended nearby Saginaw Valley State University from 2018 to 2022. He played in 43 games for the Cardinals over four seasons—earning a pair of Division II All-American selections (2021 and 2022) as well as the All-GLIAC Defensive Back of the Year award (2021).
Whiteside cracked into the pros through the NFL, joining the Washington Commanders as an undrafted free agent in 2023. The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder spent much of that year on Washington’s practice squad before being elevated to the active roster for their Week 17 and Week 18 outings.
After being released by the Commanders the next summer, Whiteside landed with the UFL’s St. Louis Battlehawks in December of 2024. He appeared in a total of 11 contests for St. Louis in 2025—recording 20 combined tackles, four pass breakups and a fumble recovery.
