SPRINGFIELD, Mo–After Tuesday night’s All-Star Game, it’ll be a two day break from baseball.
The major and minor leagues taking a mid-season break.
But two of the newest professional players can’t wait to get started.
In our Bear Nation update, Missouri State’s Jake McCutcheon and Nick Rodriguez went back to back in the tenth round of the MLB draft Monday.
The Miami Marlins drafted McCutcheon in the tenth round.
And the very next player off the board was his teammate Nick Rodriguez, going to the Los Angeles Angels.
Both are pumped to go pro.
Mccutcheon played the outfield for MoState but says the Marlins want to look at him at second.
“I think its been a thing for awhile. As far as certain teams liking me as an infielder. I think they just want to give me a shot at the infield. And see if I got with it takes to play there,” said McCutcheon.
“I have rookie camp that I have to be at on Monday in Tempe, Arizona. And so I’m not exactly sure when I’m going to get up there. Or how I’m going to get out there,” said Rodriguez.
