Bengals Depth Chart Preview: Every starting cornerback gig could be up for grabs in Cincinnati originally appeared on A to Z Sports.
It’s rare for a position group to undergo minimal offseason change and yet face a high level of uncertainty entering the next season, but that sums up the cornerback room for the Cincinnati Bengals.Â
Outside of Mike Hilton no longer on the roster, this group is almost a carbon copy of what last year’s room looked like. Not only is Hilton’s spot at nickel-back is up for grabs, but all three starting gigs could go in any direction.Â
The next installment of our Bengals depth chart preview series stays in the secondary where the cornerback position gets its—very rough—projection.

The starters: Hill, Taylor-Britt, Newton. Look, this is entirely projection. I’m not even sure the three best players are listed here. I believe Hill, who suffered a torn ACL in Week 5 last season, is the most talented and can start on the boundary or in the slot and he will end up starting at one of those positions when he’s fully healthy. Taylor-Britt projects as a better fit in defensive coordinator Al Golden’s man-heavy scheme, and the coaches love Newton and could easily beat out Turner for the final spot.Â
First off the bench: Turner. This would be déjà vu for the former second-rounder who lost a starting battle with Hill last year. Coincidentally, they’re both coming off season-ending injuries as well. Turner has the long speed to fill in on the outside, but the quickness to mirror routes from the slot as well. He’s talented enough to crack the top three, but he’s also an ideal No. 4.

The rest:Â Ivey flashed as a rookie back in 2023 and earned a niche slot role last year. Wilson joined the team late in 2024 after Turner’s injury and impressed enough to earn a one-year deal. Davis has been around since 2020 on both the active roster and practice squad. Brooks spent all of last year on the practice squad, and Robinson spent all year on Injured Reserve. Lux is the undrafted rookie of the group.
Who will make the 53-man roster: Hill, Taylor-Britt, Newton, Turner, Ivey, Wilson. Six isn’t always the number, but with the amount of injuries this team incurs at the position, I think it’s needed. The top five are safely in, and Wilson gets the edge right now since he played meaningful snaps last year under position coach Charles Burks.Â
Practice squad prediction:Â Davis. It’s a safe bet for one of players who’s been here since before the Super Bowl to stay around, but this spot (or spots?) could go in any direction.
