1. 2025 NFL Draft brings more than $72M to Brown County
The results from a 2025 NFL Draft Impact Report look good to Discover Green Bay President & CEO Brad Toll. Brown County was projected to take in $20 million in spending from the 2025 NFL Draft. The actual number was $72,917,186.
2. New legislation could prohibit the release of 10 or more Mylar balloons in Wisconsin
Mylar balloons, also known as foil balloons, have a shiny, metallic, reflective surface. When they come in contact with power lines, they act as a conductor, creating a short circuit. According to We Energies, so far in 2025, nearly 14,000 customers lost power for at least 2,500 hours because of Mylar balloons.
Two rival Wisconsin Congressmen, Rep. Mark Pocan, D-Madison, and Rep. Derrick Van Orden, R-Prairie du Chien, repeatedly exchanged insults in a heated moment on Capitol Hill. The confrontation began after Van Orden revved his motorcycle while Pocan was being interviewed by Spectrum News. Pocan was discussing cuts to public broadcasting when Van Orden pulled up in his Harley Davison, interrupting the interview.
4. Trump slams his own supporters as ‘weaklings’ for falling for what he now calls the Epstein ‘hoax’
President Donald Trump is lashing out at his own supporters as he tries to clamp down on criticism over his administration’s handling of much-hyped records in the Jeffrey Epstein sex trafficking investigation, which Trump now calls a “Hoax.”
5. 20 states sue Trump administration over FEMA funding for disaster preparedness
A coalition of attorneys general sued the Trump administration Tuesday for terminating a Federal Emergency Management Agency grant program that helps local and state governments prepare for natural disasters. It was the 32nd lawsuit filed by the group since January. In their complaint, 20 states asked a federal district court to reverse the administration’s termination of the program that has provided billions of dollars for infrastructure improvements to mitigate disasters’ effects.

Milwaukee Brewers’ young squad leads team to new heights
he Milwaukee Brewers have their best record in team history at the All-Star Break. That success has been, in-part, to the young core on the team stepping up.
The Brewers had one of Major League Baseball’s youngest rosters heading into the 2025 season, after deciding not to pay established veterans such as Willy Adames and Devin Williams this past offseason.
They instead trusted their young guys to take steps in their personal development. This includes players such as relief pitcher DL Hall in his second season with the Brew Crew.
