Selected No. 10 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft, Wilson, an Ohio State product, burst on the scene as a rookie with 83 receptions, 1,103 yards (13.3 per) and 4 TDs. He was awarded the Associated Press NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year after setting franchise rookie records in catches and yards despite playing with four different QBs. He set a rookie franchise mark with three 100-yard games, and he reached 90 yards in six contests.
Wilson started 17 games his second season, hauling in 95 caches for 1,104 yards (10.9 per) and 3 TDs. Remaining productive, Wilson became the only player in NFL history with back-to-back 1,000 yards seasons to start his career while catching passes from six quarterbacks.
In his third pro season, Wilson forced 9 penalties for 81 yards walked off. The 9 flags were the fourth-most drawn by a Jets wideout since 2000. He had a streak of eight games with 5-plus catches (Week 3 – Week 10) and started the season with 13 consecutive games with 4+catches.
Having averaged 156 targets from 2022-24, Wilson has 279 career receptions, 3,249 yards (11.6 per) and 14 TDs. He will remain a focal point of the offense under HC Aaron Glenn and OC Tanner Engstrand.
“Give him the ball as much as possible,” Glenn said of Wilson this spring. “Give him the ball as much as possible, that’s it.”
Wilson will lead a revamped WR room that includes veterans Josh Reynolds, Allen Lazard, Tyler Johnson in addition to Xavier Gipson and Malachi Corley. The Jets also added Arian Smith in the fourth round of April’s NFL Draft. Wilson needs a catch in 12 straight games to pass Keyshawn Johnson’s regular-season mark of 62 consecutive regular season games with a reception.
