Training camp is almost here for the Indianapolis Colts, so let’s take a look at what their current roster on offense looks like.

The Colts‘ first training camp practice will take place on July 23rd, with the rookies reporting on the 21st and the veterans on the 22nd.

There is still the possibility during this time of the year that an addition–and subsequent roster subtraction–can be made. GM Chris Ballard still has the salary cap flexibility to tweak his roster. But largely, the team we see right now is the one that will carry the Colts through training camp and the preseason.

Here is the current makeup of the Colts’ training camp roster on offense.

Quarterbacks

Of course, all eyes will be on this position group as Jones and Richardson compete for the starting quarterback job. The good news in a recent report from ESPN’s Stephen Holder is that it is believed that Richardson will be available at the start of camp. However, Holder also mentioned that there could be a possible “pitch count” early on. After missing time this offseason, it’ll be important that Richardson hits the ground running.

Running back

The Colts are in search of more production from the backup running back role, with Giddens, Herbert, and Goodson all competing for playing time. An added bonus for the Colts would be if they can find a pass-catching presence out of the backfield as well.

Wide receiver

Training camp is a time for positional battles to take place. However, at wide receiver, at least as it pertains to the 53-man roster, I don’t think there is any competition out there. The first six names listed will make up the wide receiver room on the final roster. The real thing to watch for here is if Mitchell can build off his strong performance this spring.

Tight end

During OTAs and minicamp, Tyler Warren has already been heavily involved in the passing game. Once the pads come on, we will get a better look at the overall impact he can have when his blocking abilities and versatility are on display. It’ll also be worth watching how the playing time alongside Warren ends up shaking out. Alie-Cox and Ogletree have been blocking-first tight ends, but I could see Mallory and Woods battling it out for the one pass-catching first option at this position, while Warren fills the do-it-all role.

Offensive line

Bortolini and Goncalves are the presumed starters at center and right guard, but offensive line coach Tony Sparano did say that both would be competing and have to earn those roles. When it comes to roster construction, this could be a position we see the Colts go heavy and keep 10, specifically keeping an additional interior lineman on the 53-man with Bortolini and Goncalves being relatively inexperienced players.
