CINCINNATI (WKRC) – Here is a projection for how the Bengals 53-player roster will look like when it is finalized on Aug. 26 (note that this takes into account Trey Hendrickson playing despite his contract issues and rookies Shemar Stewart and Demetrius Knight signing their contracts):

The Skinny: There really weren’t a lot of tough decisions to make.

Probably the toughest came on the offensive line. Lee will battle undrafted free agent signee Seth McLaughlin for the backup center spot, but McLaughlin is coming off surgery to repair a torn Achilles suffered in November and may be limited early in camp. Rookie fifth-round pick Jalen Rivers, who can play tackle and guard, could be kept if the team opts to go with 10 offensive linemen and make a cut at another position or make it if the versatile Ford wins a starting spot at guard. Jaxson Kirkland is also in the mix for a backup spot on the offensive line.

If the Bengals do opt to keep 10 offensive linemen then Grandy is on the bubble and only three tight ends may be kept.

The shifty Williams may push for a role as the fourth receiver and I had him, Jones and Burton making it over Kendric Pryor.

Along the defensive line, rookie undrafted free agent tackles Eric Gregory and Howard Cross could push Sample or be kept depending on what happens with Hendrickson and Stewart.

I have Njongmeta making it over Shaka Heyward.

The final spot in the secondary will come down to Ivey, Wilson and Jalen Davis, and I have Davis as the odd man out.

It also won’t be surprising if the Bengals bring a veteran cornerback and/or a veteran safety to add depth and competition.
