After trading back 11 spots from the late fifth to the early sixth round in the 2025 NFL Draft, the New England Patriots found themselves back on the clock at No. 182 overall. With that pick, they brought in a new kicker: Andres Borregales out of Miami.
Borregales, 23, spent four seasons in Miami, appearing in 50 games for the Hurricanes. Along the way, he made 74 of 86 field goal attempts (86.0%) as well as 183 of 184 extra points (99.5%). His best season came in 2025, when he went 18-of-19 (94.7%) on field goals — including a long of 56 — and a perfect 62-of-62 on PATs.
The first kicker off the board in this year’s draft, he is now one of two players at the position on the Patriots’ roster. Borregales will compete with former practice squad member John Parker Romo for the job this summer.
Borregales is the seventh player drafted by the Patriots this year. The team previously selected offensive tackle Will Campbell in the first round, followed by second-round pick RB TreVeyon Henderson and third-rounders WR Kyle Williams and C Jared Wilson.
On Saturday, they added both safety Craig Woodson and defensive tackle Joshua Farmer in Round 4. Earlier in Round 5, edge Bradyn Swinson was added to the mix.
The Patriots are next on the clock at No. 220 overall in the seventh round.
