ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Saturday, some Atlanta Falcons players helped out some metro Atlanta learners as they get ready to head back to the classroom.
Outside linebacker Khalid Kareem and others gave away 50 backpacks filled with essential school supplies at the team store in Atlantic Station.
“For me so many people have poured into my life as a kid growing up so I would be doing them a disservice if I didn’t give it back so this for me is a full circle,” Kareem said.
The kids are from Chris 180, an organization meant to provide metro Atlanta children and their families with mental health support.
After getting their backpacks, they got to play some games and if they wanted to, get a fresh cut for free to make sure they look sharp on the first day!
“Getting back to school is really expensive so having that cost barrier eliminated and then just the funness of being able to be with the Atlanta Falcons and come in and be with the players and just see their generosity in action it’s just wonderful,” said chief development officer Rochelle Reeder.
