Former Penn State quarterback Will Levis, who is currently with the Tennessee Titans, has had his season come to an end before it even begins.

Levis is undergoing surgery on his throwing shoulder and will miss the entire 2025 season, the Titans announced on Monday. His surgery is scheduled for Tuesday, July 29.

“After consulting with doctors and his representatives, Will Levis has decided to undergo shoulder surgery that will sideline him for the entire 2025 season,” the Titans said in a statement. “We support his decision to focus on his long-term health. He approached the offseason with professionalism and showed clear growth as a leader. We remain confident in his full recovery.”

Will Levis was competing with No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward for the Titans starting quarterback job, although Ward took most of the first-team reps this offseason and was expected to be the starter in 2025.

Levis threw for 2,091 yards with 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 2024, while starting 12 games. He also rushed for 183 yards and averaged 4.1 yards per carry.

He was open this offseason about how tough it was for the Titans to draft Cam Ward No. 1 overall.

“Anyone who’s ever been in my situation can agree that it sucks,” he said. “I’m just trying to do everything that I can to not let it affect me.

“Just being the same dude every day in the building and being there for the guys however I can and just trying to get better every day.”

Prior to starting his NFL career, Will Levis had an interesting journey in college football.

Levis started his career at Penn State, appearing in 14 games during his three seasons with the Nittany Lions.

Levis threw for 644 yards, with 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions during his time at Penn State. He added 473 yards and 6 touchdowns on the ground.

The 6-foot-4 QB then transferred to Kentucky and was a two-year starter for the Wildcats, before being drafted in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Levis threw for 43 touchdowns and 23 interceptions during his two seasons with the Wildcats. He added 11 rushing scores.
