(WLUK) — This year’s Green Bay Packers-Pittsburgh Steelers game won’t just feature a matchup with Aaron Rodgers. It will also feature a new look for the Steelers.
The team on Monday unveiled a throwback uniform it will wear during the Oct. 26 game.
“We’re excited to unveil our new throwback uniforms which not only pay tribute to the origins of the Steelers franchise but also to the deep connection we have to our hometown of Pittsburgh,” Steelers president Art Rooney II said in a news statement. “It’s especially fitting that we’ll debut these uniforms on Sunday night, October 26 when we play the Green Bay Packers — another franchise in the league with a long and rich history.”
The uniform is based on the team’s 1933 duds. That jersey was yellow with black stripes and featured the Pittsburgh city crest on the chest.
The throwback uniform moves the crest to the upper right front of the jersey to make room for the jersey numbers required under modern rules.
To go with the jerseys, the Steelers will wear yellow helmets and khaki-colored pants.
