Draft traps NFL teams must avoid in 2025

From QB reaches to trading up, here are a few traps teams must avoid in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The Los Angeles Chargers enter Year 2 of the Jim Harbaugh era with renewed optimism ahead of the 2025 NFL draft.

Jim Harbaugh’s first season ended with a playoff berth, but the overall attitude of team was changed compared to prior regimes. LA’s defense was more physical in 2024, and there could be more additions along those lines this weekend.

The Chargers added Ladd McConkey in last year’s draft to help Justin Herbert, but LA needs more at receiver.

Here’s the Chargers’ picks, selections and grades for the 2025 NFL Draft.

1st Round, No. 22 overall | Omarion Hampton, RB, UNC

Instant grade: B-plus

Analysis: Hampton is a well-built, strong runner who is able to run away from defenders in a hurry and find creases for extra yards.

2nd Round, No. 55 overall | Tre Harris, WR, Ole Miss

Instant grade: C

Analysis: I’m beyond hoping for the best for Ole Miss receivers coming out of the Lane Kiffin offense, though Harris is encouraging with the ball in his hands.

3rd Round, No. 86 overall | Jamaree Caldwell, DT, Oregon

Instant grade: C-plus

Analysis: Caldwell has encouraging pass-rush production but will need better play strength to play regularly.

4th Round, No. 125 overall | Kyle Kennard, EDGE, South Carolina5th Round, No. 158 overall | KeAndre Lambert-Smith, WR, Auburn5th Round, No. 165 overall | (from Washington and Philadelphia) | Oronde Gadsden II, TE, Syracuse6th Round, No. 199 overall | Branson Taylor, OL, Pitt6th Round, No. 214 overall (compensatory) | R.J.
