With a loaded roster, there are just a few paths to the Buffalo Bills roster on Day 3. Focusing in on which position groups are most likely for the Bills on Saturday can give us some insight on where and when Brandon Beane wants to trade up because it’d be hard to see him using all 10 picks in the draft.
Some of the position I’m looking at:
Safety
There are still some potential sit-to-start options available in this year’s draft and a bunch of players currently on the roster without guarantees.
Linebacker
With Matt Milano entering the final year of his deal, it’s a good time to start thinking about a developmental replacement. At a minimum, they can upgrade over Baylon Spector and Joe Andreesen.
Tight end
Buffalo still hasn’t replaced Quintin Morris and Dawson Know could be in the final year of his deal.
Wide receiver
I do think we’re now in the realm of WR adds for Buffalo. I never thought a pick in the first three rounds made sense.
Interior offensive line
We don’t know what they think of their depth on the interior, but Mike Edwards and Connor McGovern are entering the final years of their respective deals. Alec Anderson, Sedrick Van Pran-Graner, Mike Edwards, and Kendrick Green aren’t locked in.
Offensive Tackle
Buffalo would benefit from adding a prospect who can provide meaningful upside depth. Rylan Grable and Travis Clayton are behind Dion Dawkins, while backing up Spencer Brown are Ryan Van Demark and Richard Gouraige.
1-tech DT
The Bills could still add a big beefy DaQuan Jones replacement or rotational piece. As a two-down player, there is value in these later rounds.
Punter
If Buffalo wants a competition at punter, grabbing one late can avoid UDFA headaches.
Core special teams
Mack Hollins and Quintin Morris played a ton of special teams snaps and aren’t on this team right now. They really need some replacements.
Where are you looking, Bills fans?
