Veteran edge rusher Lorenzo Carter, who began his NFL career with the New York Giants in 2018, has announced that he is retiring from football.

“He notified us yesterday that he will be retiring,” Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi said, via the team’s website. “So we wish him well.”

The 29-year-old Carter played seven seasons in the NFL, the first four with the Giants and the last three with the Atlanta Falcons. He signed a free agent deal with the Titans this spring but informed them of his intention to retire this week before the team began its 2025 training camp.

Carter was the 66th overall selection in the 2018 NFL draft out of Georgia by the Giants and went on to play in 96 NFL games for the Giants and Falcons. He finished with 278 total tackles with 21.5 sacks and five forced fumbles.

In his four seasons with the Giants, Carter played in 49 games with 33 starts and recorded 14.5 sacks.
