The Pittsburgh Steelers are set to kick off training camp on Thursday and are still on the hunt for a starting wide receiver. One such receiver, Washington Commanders Terry McLaurin, is holding out from the start of Commanders training camp while he waits on a contract extension.

McLaurin is heading into the final season of his current deal and has made it clear he wants the security of a big extension. This isn’t to say McLaurin wants to reset the wide receiver market, but he does want to be paid at a level commensurate with his talent and production.

In 2024, McLaurin hauled in 82 receptions for 1,096 yards and 13 receiving touchdowns. In 2022, McLaurin signed a three-year, $68 million contract and now he wants a raise and a long-term extension.

Meanwhile, we have the Steelers, who are still sitting on plenty of salary cap space despite the busy offseason. Pittsburgh also has plenty of draft capital to work with if they wanted to bring McLaurin in to start with DK Metcalf.
