Coveted Jakob Breum will not be sold for less than £5.2million as Go Ahead Eagles refuse to budge over an exit for their coveted playmaker.

Sporting director Jan Willem van Dop has told interested parties of the Eagles’ stance that he wants £6m euros after it was reported that Celtic had a £1.5m bid turfed out last month.

Breum earned acclaim last season with 10 goals and six assists despite having his season curtailed for three months due to a foot injury.

A recent TV debate centered around Eredivisie clubs receiving competitive fees for their finest talents with the 21-year-old Dane’s name cropping up as a player who should land a significant fee.

And it comes weeks after Breum was namechecked as a player coveted by the biggest clubs in the Netherlands.

RTV Oost journalist Tijmen van Wissing stated: “He’s on the radar of top clubs in the Netherlands. He’s obviously turned out to be a real crowd-pleaser.”

Boss Brendan Rodgers made it abundantly clear after the 4-0 win over Newcastle that he is seeking firepower to truly replace Kyogo’s departure in January and Nicolas Kuhn after his £17.2m move to Como.
