Kansas City Chiefs All-Pro defensive tackle Chris Jones addressed a pool of reporters after practice on Wednesday at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph. He addressed several topics, including thoughts on rookie defensive lineman Omarr Norman-Lott’s performance at the start of camp.

“These guys in college are built different. A guy like Omarr (Norman-Lott) is 315 (pounds), who’s been running 4.7 and 4.8, is where the game is at right now,” said Jones. “I just focus on what I can control: staying in shape and trying to be the best me every day.”

Jones is coming off another All-Pro season in 2024, continuing his reign atop the position group, but he had plenty more great things to say about rookie Norman-Lott.

“He’s young, but he has a lot of raw talent. He’s going to be a great asset for the defense,” said Jones. “He can rush the passer quickly out of the stance, and he’s gotta work on his techniques and fundamentals, but I think he’s going to be a great asset for us this upcoming season.”

Norman-Lott began his college career at Arizona State for three seasons and appeared in 21 games, accumulating 44 tackles. He transferred to Tennessee in 2023 and played two seasons, tallying 44 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, and one fumble recovery.
