The Jacksonville Jaguars made the aggressive move to trade up with the Cleveland Browns to snag the number two overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft. Hunter has been called by many the Shohei Ohtani of football, as he dominated on both sides of the ball at the collegiate level en route to winning the Heisman Trophy last season.
Unfortunately, as Hunter’s first NFL training camp gets underway, the blooming superstar is dealing with a major off-the-field distraction, according to one national outlet.
“Travis Hunter’s father is currently behind bars in Florida — after authorities claim he violated conditions of his probation,” reported TMZ Sports on Wednesday.
Otherwise, camp appears to be going well for Hunter. There was speculation throughout the offseason on which side of the ball he would play on as a professional, but in the early part of training camp, Jacksonville has indicated a willingness to let him shine on both sides the same way he did in college under head coach Deion Sanders.
“Jaguars planning to “flip-flop” WR/CB Travis Hunter both ways during training camp,” reported ESPN’s senior NFL insider Adam Schefter.
Fans reacted to Schefter’s report on social media.
“Limit his effectiveness on both sides of the ball, sounds like a great idea,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“They need to plan to flip flop him all season if they want to make the playoffs,” another fan wrote.
Hopefully, Hunter can remain focused on having a positive training camp in light of recent events.
