The biggest storyline surrounding the Indianapolis Colts this summer involves their quarterback situation. It has already been announced that Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones will battle for the starting job.

Richardson has only appeared in 15 games for the Colts since being drafted in 2023. The former No. 4 pick has completed 50.6 percent of his career passes for 2,391 yards with 11 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. While his accuracy is a huge concern, the biggest problem right now is that he can’t stay healthy.

Earlier this year, Richardson was unable to compete at minicamp due to a shoulder injury. That’s the last thing fans in Indy wanted to hear considering he missed time last season due to an AC joint injury.

Before the start of training camp, the Colts gave Richardson a vote of confidence.

“Where he is in his career and in his deal as a rookie, we still have time,” Colts owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon said. “He still has time to prove it.”

Unfortunately, Richardson’s first day at practice didn’t exactly win over the fans.

On Wednesday afternoon, Richardson went viral for throwing a wildly inaccurate pass at practice. It was so egregious that fans ripped him to shreds on social media.

“Not accurate in high school, not accurate in college, he will figure it out in the National Football League,” one fan wrote in regards to Richardson’s inaccurate throw.

“This team will forever be cursed at QB until they pay for the crimes they committed by not getting Andrew Luck a real offensive line,” a second fan declared.

“I will not make conclusions based on training camp clips. I will not make conclusions based on training camp clips. I will not make conclusions based on training camp clips,” a third fan said.

“Anthony Richardson is not very good,” another fan declared.

Colts head coach Shane Steichen told reporters he wants to see consistency from Jones and Richardson during training camp.

“I met with them yesterday. Just talked about the consistency… moving the football up and down the field,” Steichen said. “I told those guys too no timetable on this thing. Let those guys compete. Let the process play out.”

It’s up to Richardson to win the coaching staff’s trust this summer.
