While players keep their heads down and plug away at training camp, the Denver Broncos are negotiating potential extensions with the agents of several key players.

Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton, pass rusher Nik Bonitto and defensive linemen Zach Allen and John Franklin-Myers are among the team’s players scheduled to become unrestricted free agents in 2026. All four are worthy of contract extensions, but coach Sean Payton was unwilling to give much of an update on that topic.

“Look, there are a number of guys you’re going to ask me about a few contracts,” Payton said Wednesday. “They’re all being worked on. [It’s] something we really would never discuss with you, and those guys are getting work done. There’s been good communication, and I’m just going to leave it at that relative to the specific players.”

We know the team has started negotiations with at least Bonitto (according to the player) and Sutton (according to KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis). There haven’t been reports yet on Allen and JFM, but Payton did indicate “they’re all being worked on.” So it seems reasonable to assume initial talks are underway with all four players.

Denver is projected to have about $46.5 million in available salary cap space in 2026, and that should help the club keep some of their top players with the team well beyond the 2025 campaign.
