Sovereignty might have ruled the day at the 151st Kentucky Derby, but the real star of the weekend was Carolina Panthers wideout Xavier Legette.
Legette was enlisted by the NFL as a social correspondent for this year’s festivities from Churchill Downs. And between his endearing personality and his lifelong passion for horses, he proved that he was the perfect man for the job.

The 24-year-old receiver, in fact, has built up a pretty impressive stable of his own. Headlined by fan favorite “Dolla Bill,” Legette’s string is now up to a whopping 14 horses.
And perhaps one of those 14 horses can eventually find their way to the track, perhaps for the next “Run for the Roses.” But until then, Legette got his feet wet in Louisville, Ky. by fulfilling his special duties.
