End Zone Preview: Ridgeland Jaguars

  • July 28, 2025

RIDGELAND, SC (WTOC) – We’re heading into year two following the Ridgeland-Hardeeville split, and the Jaguars are looking to build off of last year’s success as they continue to build their program.

2024 was an above average season for the Jaguars. It saw them earn a 7-5 record with a trip to the second round of the playoffs. But this year, the goal is to top all of that — have a better record, win the region instead of finishing second, and go further in the playoffs. First-year head coach Reginald Alexander is trying to ensure that happens by going back to his military roots.

“The majority of my coaches, which is myself and my assistant head coach, a couple of my assistants, they’re all ex-military guys, so discipline for us is a big thing, and that’s all we expect from them is discipline,” said Alexander. “It will keep a lot of mistakes from happening, a lot of unnecessary things — jumping offsides, the holding. So it helps keep laundry off the ground, which helps us.”

“There’s no excuse,” said senior linebacker Denardo Henry. “There’s no ‘I cant’s’. There’s no try to make up an excuse for not coming. It’s either you’re there or not.”

Alexander says his team has taken well to the way he runs the program, which has been molded by over 20 years of coaching. He’s impressed with the senior leadership, their dedication, and their accountability. On the field, he’s still hoping to see some improvement at the outside linebacker position, but he’s more than excited to see their run game in action.

“I think we’re going to be an awesome running team. Of course, we’re going to be strong on defense, but I do think that the run game is going to really open up some doors for us.”

The Jaguars will start their season on the road against Eau Claire on August 22.
